How big is an A380? Aircraft sizes compared
Aircraft come in every size. A little four-seat plane is about 11 metres wide. The giant A380 is nearly 80 metres wide, which is wider than a Boeing 747 is long.
Aircraft range from tiny four-seat planes to the giant A380. Put them side by side, to the same scale, to see the difference.
Wingspan and length
The wingspan is the distance from one wingtip to the other. The length is from nose to tail. Airports sort gates, parking stands and taxiways by wingspan.
Narrow-body and wide-body
A narrow-body (single-aisle) airliner such as an Airbus A320 or Boeing 737 has one aisle and carries around 150 to 200 people. A wide-body such as a Boeing 787 or Airbus A350 has two aisles and carries 250 to 400 or more.
The giants
The Airbus A380 is the largest passenger aircraft, with two full decks along its whole length. The Boeing 747 has a hump at the front where its short upper deck sits.
